I asked South Pasadena librarian Steve Fjeldsted why he thinks no one seems to stay quiet in libraries these days, why, indeed, within library walls, you’re more likely to hear a Shakira ring tone than a “shhh.”

Man muss ja nicht gleich zum Ninja werden, aber optimal wäre natürlich ein Bibliotheksbau mit offenen und geschlossene (Ruhe)Zonen, wobei das aber auch nicht immer klappt, wie man u.a. bei uns erleben kann. Unser zweiter Lesesaal soll eigentlich ein “Stillarbeitsraum” sein…
